Ingredients Available at Martha’s Vineyard
A complex herbal cousin of the Old Fashioned cocktail, this Sazerac marries Martha’s own Single Barrel Mammoth Northern Rye Whiskey and bitters with a light touch of Absinthe.
- Absinthe for rinsing the glass
- 1 small sugar cube (or 1/4 ounce simple syrup)
- 3 dashes Peychaud Bitters
- Lemon peel for garnish
Rinse out a rocks glass with Absinthe until the inside is coated. Put the sugar cube in a mixing glass and soak with the Pey- chaud’s Bitters, then muddle. Add the Rye Whiskey, fill the mixing glass with ice, and stir for 15 to 20 seconds. Strain into the Absinthe-coated rocks glass. Garnish with the lemon peel.
